The High Sierra Nevada
(from photographs by Clinton C. Clarke)

View south from the summit of Mt. Lyell (13,090) -- the highest peak in the Yosemite National Park. In the foreground rise (left) Banner (12,597), Ritter (13,156), and Rodgers (13,056) in the Dana-Minarets Wild Area. Beyond extends the snowy basin of the San Joaquin River, traversed along the east walls by the P.C.T. The group of peaks on the far horizon mark the north boundary of the Kings Canyon National Park.
