Mt. Lyell
(from photographs by Clinton C. Clarke)
The highest point of Mt. Lyell (13,090) is to the right, outside the picture. The ascent includes the longest snow climb in the Sierra. Above the snow-mantled ridge rise heat clouds over the hot deserts of Owens Valley. The P.C.T. crosses to the left over Donohue Pass (11,120).
