Mt. Shasta (14,161) -- next to Mt. Rainier the most inspiring peak in the United States -- rises in solitary grandeur above forested ridges of the Mt. Shasta Recreation Area. The P.C.T. traverses the forested slopes and many roads and camps offer easy approach to the mountain.
